J's Closet Warming / Ladies Wine Night Party

One of my 2011 New Year's resolution was to spice up my small and boring walk-in closet.  I had spent hours after work during the month of January doing just that. Unfortunately, I did not take any before photos, but you can take my word for it- it was pretty much a hole in the wall that simply housed my wardrobe. The walls and shelves were a dingy white color. It had a cold, mildly oppressive feel to it.  I'd race in, grab what I wanted and race out.  It lacked that Agent J decor. So I decided at the beginning of the year with our wedding and my 30th birthday bash behind us, I would make it a space I could love and enjoy.  I began with painting the walls a soft lilac color. Then AgenT and my Mother came over and assisted me in laying black and white damask wall paper on my shelves and a side wall. I initially wanted to wall paper all of the walls, but after a brief discussion with my cohorts we agreed it would make the room feel even smaller. So I went with painted walls and decorative shelves.  We removed one of the wall shelves and added a metal bar for more hanging space and a long shelf for additional storage.  I even added more space by slipping a curtain rod through the shelf brackets on which to hang scarves.  I bought a matching damask chair, a small three drawer dresser, a rose shaped rug and a long length mirror. I found some lilac colored hangers and added fun accessories which I already had around our home along with framed photos of my late Grandmother and some of my favorite photos of my girls and I.  It instantly became "My Happy Place."  I now absolutely love being in there, sifting through my clothing, putting my clothes away and occasionally adding new pieces.

How?  Didn't want to make it a big deal, sent out the following invitation / notification via Facebook E-vite:

"So I have for the first time succeeded in conquering a New Year's resolution goal by vamping and chic-ifying my closet. And now I am ready and very excited to show it off. Well mostly I have been dying for an evening of wine and games with my girlfriends. And I thought a closet warming party would make an excellent excuse.
So bring along a bottle of your favorite wine and / or something yummy to share and nibble on.
I really hope you can make it for a bit.
Love,
J"

There was a total of 19 ladies in attendance.  But at this point several had already left when somebody had the brilliant idea to have us all cram into my closet for a photo.  Pretty sure 20 ladies would not have fit.

Food & Beverage:  I had a few appetizers and several bottles of red and white wines. My ladies each brought a snack and a bottle of wine.  Can't say there was any thing left by the end of the evening.

Theme:  No particular theme.  Just ladies, wine, giggles all inside my closet.  (Which by the way is NOT very large.)

Games?  Played In A Pickle game.  This is a super fun game AND is actually family friendly.
