Ruby*tini

Gin?! That’s right, It’s GIN O’clock?! Ha! I dunno. But for some reason I’ve been on a GIN binge. I’m not exactly sure how I feel about it. In a silly way I feel as though I am cheating on VODKA. But a New Year calls for New Drink Mes. Am I right?. So get ready, because we’ll be inviting new flavors and VIPs to the party.

* 2 oz. New Amsterdam GIN
* 3 oz. Grapefruit Juice (I did half store bought and half fresh squeezed grapefruit juice).
* 1 oz. Rosemary Simple Syrup

1.) Pour all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice & Shake it like you mean it!
2.) Pour drink into martini glass.
3.) Garnish with a grapefruit wedge and a sprig of rosemary, for an extra Killshot.

* Above measurements serves one ‘strong’ (6 oz.) martini glass or two average martinis. *

Rosemary Simple Syrup
* 3 C. Water (1 part)
* 3 C. Sugar (1 part)
* 6 Sprigs of fresh Rosemary (2 sprigs per parts)

1.) Slowly heat up water, sugar and rosemary sprigs in a sauce pan. Once the sugar has become one with the water (it will look clear) turn heat down and simmer for five to ten minutes. Set aside to cool.
2.) Once cooled, find a vessel to pour and store simple syrup. I used an empty 360 VODKA bottle, I never have the heart to discard those. Um .. these bottles are brilliant! I also added my rosemary sprigs inside the bottle to both continue infusing the flavor and for also an unique presentation. You, however, are welcome to discard your sprigs. Ta-Da! You just made the simplest of simple syrup. Congratulations! What other flavors shall we make next?
