Fishing the West
Do you spot what is missing? I didn’t realize it until after we did the shoot, I did some light photo editing, got it up and scheduled it for publication on the website, created an iMovie, and then crafted a reel on Instagram. No, it wasn’t until I was adding in the hashtags for the reel that it dawned I me, that I had forgotten the tacklebox. ACK! Here’s the deal, I bought that cutie dog toy fishing tacklebox over a year ago for this exact future photoshoot. I knew I wanted to reuse Mia’s tiny boat and I thought a fishing theme would be perfect. Then I found that toy. I have been holding onto it for so long. At the beginning of the month, I got all our props out and all sorted and a few days ago, I removed the tags from the tacklebox and got all the rest of our gear in line and ready to go. But while I was putting up the tapestry, I moved the tacklebox onto the table behind me and carried on with getting my set set up. Out of sight out of mind. Also, after finding that adorable child-size fishing costume on the used market, you can’t even see the fishing vest because of how low BB was sitting inside of the boat. I always plan our shoots paying extra close attention to those clever and genius details only to have our kill shot missing most if not all those fine planned-out bits. I now go into these knowing those details may be completely missed or obstructed. But I still add them into my planning, because I am all about the details. Anyway, there was no way we’d be able to recreate and capture that same magic, especially Sofia’s playful smile. So it is what it is. And now the girls have a new fishing tacklebox to play with. The worm has already been a hit and caused a small scuffle in the game “No! Dat’s Mine!”
