Growing up without a whole lot of money, we learned to take extra good care of our things. If something broke, you would roll up your sleeves and try first to fix it before buying it new. And I’m not talking about duck taping it back together either. Like actually fixing it, almost making it brand new again. My dad was great at fixing things, making stuff, and building just about anything. So for Father’s day, I thought what are some of the things that remind me of my dad? Well apart from music, his twelve-string guitar, and trucking; I thought of his ‘Bob Vila’ side. My dad, the handyman extraordinaire. From there I pictured his endless collection of Levi’s denim jeans, all the flannels I would steal from him, (it’s was a grunge thing), the brand Carhartt, his DIY spirit, and the color blue, not just for his bright blue eyes, but because I remember blue being his favorite color when I was a kid. All those details I tried to incorporate in this shoot.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad!
