Wear Your Pearls
In exactly two months, December 15th it’s National Wear Your Pearls Day.
Just like an oyster takes an irritating grain of sand, layer by layer, it transforms it into a valuable and magnificent pearl.
We have twenty-one days to turn this current irritant into something monumental and joyful.

Overtime
Time Travelers
My cousin gifted us these adorable scooters. But our shoot schedule is already booked for the remainder of the year. I had to do a little rearranging to fit in something using these cuties. I started brainstorming: not sure how to incorporate the word time into the title to go with this month’s series ‘Summer Time, Livin’s Easy.’
What could be our theme? And how could we use these little scooters for it? I woke up the next morning with the idea of Time Traveling or Time Travelers. Ok, that’s great and will work. Now let’s make it make sense. Thus some brief research ensued.
First: Let’s learn a little about the Vespa. The Vespa story begins in the aftermath of WW II in Italy, 1946. The economy was left crippled and the roads were in a disastrous state which made it difficult for the automobile and other manufacturers to reemerge. The Piaggio family of Pontedera, Italy, who was involved in the aerospace industry, decided to find a way to reinvent their business by addressing Italy’s need for a modern and affordable mode of transportation for the masses.
2nd generation Enrico Piaggio had an idea for a 2 wheeled vehicle that would be inexpensive to produce and reliable… perfect for struggling Italians who still needed a way to get around. (source)
While researching Italian fashion during the late 40’s I came across a fashion designer who started making dresses out of aprons, dishcloths, and other trimmings because material and textiles were scarce post-WW II. She later became a fashion icon of her time.
Simonetta Colonna di Cesarò was an Italian countess who became known as one of the most celebrated Italian fashion designers of her time and was described as the first lady of Italian fashion. She was a member of the Colonna family. (source)
There you have it. The girls are traveling back in time to the late 1940’s, Italy post-WW II. Showcasing: Vespas and fashion: Time Travelers

“Welcome back to Tool Time!
Today, we’re taking this old busted-up wooden bench and giving it some much-needed TLC. First, we’re going to fix the slats on the back and the seat, then sand it smooth with our DeWalt 20V MAX XR Cordless 5 in. Brushless Random Orbit Sander and then we’ll refinish it with a nice Golden Oak Minwax wood stain and polyurethane.
Today’s episode is brought to you by Chew It Yourself. Don’t just do it, Chew It! And by Bark Fixer Pupper Tool Belts, everything you need all on one belt. You know the drill, go fetch yourself one today!
OK, now before we start, tell me what’s the king of all tools?
The Ruler!
Hee-hee! Ya get it?! Gotta love those Dad Jokes!
Anyway, first we’re going to get out our Bark Loud Boi 25’ tape measurer to determine the dimensions of these here slats we’ll need to cut with our DeWalt 20V MAX 6-1/2 in. Cordless Brushed Circular Saw.”

Reel Time
Fishing the West
Do you spot what is missing? I didn’t realize it until after we did the shoot, I did some light photo editing, got it up and scheduled it for publication on the website, created an iMovie, and then crafted a reel on Instagram. No, it wasn’t until I was adding in the hashtags for the reel that it dawned I me, that I had forgotten the tacklebox. ACK! Here’s the deal, I bought that cutie dog toy fishing tacklebox over a year ago for this exact future photoshoot. I knew I wanted to reuse Mia’s tiny boat and I thought a fishing theme would be perfect. Then I found that toy. I have been holding onto it for so long. At the beginning of the month, I got all our props out and all sorted and a few days ago, I removed the tags from the tacklebox and got all the rest of our gear in line and ready to go. But while I was putting up the tapestry, I moved the tacklebox onto the table behind me and carried on with getting my set set up. Out of sight out of mind. Also, after finding that adorable child-size fishing costume on the used market, you can’t even see the fishing vest because of how low BB was sitting inside of the boat. I always plan our shoots paying extra close attention to those clever and genius details only to have our kill shot missing most if not all those fine planned-out bits. I now go into these knowing those details may be completely missed or obstructed. But I still add them into my planning, because I am all about the details. Anyway, there was no way we’d be able to recreate and capture that same magic, especially Sofia’s playful smile. So it is what it is. And now the girls have a new fishing tacklebox to play with. The worm has already been a hit and caused a small scuffle in the game “No! Dat’s Mine!”
